You Don’t Have to Go Through Menopause Alone: Why Asking for Help Is a Strength, Not a Weakness

I Thought I Could Handle It On My Own…”

When I first started going through perimenopause, I didn’t even know that’s what it was. I was exhausted, moody, anxious, and felt like my body had turned against me overnight. But I kept telling myself, “I’m just tired. I’m just stressed. I’ll be fine.”

I tried to power through—because that’s what we’re taught, right? Be strong. Push through. Don’t complain. Don’t ask for help unless it’s absolutely necessary.

But the truth is, I wasn’t fine. I was confused, overwhelmed, and silently struggling to feel like myself again.

And I’ve learned I’m not alone in that. So many women are navigating menopause with little to no guidance—just trying to hold it all together without falling apart.

Menopause Is Confusing—And That’s Not Your Fault

Here’s the thing: menopause isn’t just about hot flashes.

It affects:

  • Your brain (forgetfulness, brain fog, anxiety)

  • Your body (joint pain, stubborn weight gain, exhaustion)

  • Your emotions (irritability, sadness, loss of motivation)

  • Your sense of self

But very few of us are taught what to expect. And even fewer are told there’s support available that actually helps.

It’s no wonder so many of us feel lost. I certainly did.

🤍

What I’ve Learned: You Don’t Need to Tough It Out

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is this:

Asking for help doesn’t mean you’re weak—it means you’re wise.

It means you’re paying attention to what your body and mind truly need.

For me, that meant finally getting curious about hormone replacement therapy, focusing more intentionally on my strength training, and letting go of the shame around not “doing it all” alone. It also meant talking to other women and realizing I wasn’t broken—I was just going through a change no one had prepared me for.

Support looks different for everyone, and it might include:

  • A doctor who understands perimenopause and menopause

  • A coach who knows how to train your changing body

  • A therapist who helps you process big emotional shifts

  • A partner or friend who simply listens

  • A group where you can say, “Me too” without judgment

🌿

You Deserve Support That Actually Helps

There are real tools that make a real difference:

  • Strength training tailored to your hormonal changes

  • Nutrition that supports metabolism, blood sugar, and mood

  • Restorative sleep strategies

  • Hormone therapy (when appropriate)

  • Mindset work to reconnect with yourself

You don’t have to figure all of this out on your own.

That’s not the goal. The goal is to feel strong, capable, and supported—with help.

Let Me Be the Support I Needed Back Then

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or just tired of pretending everything’s okay when it’s not, I see you. I’ve been there.

This is exactly why I created Rekindle with Kim—to be the kind of resource I wish I had when I was in the thick of it.

You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be supported.

Let’s walk through this season together.
